Types of resistors

• Fixed Resistors: As the name suggests, fixed resistors have a resistance value that doesn’t change. While you can purchase resistors in any ohmic value, it’s often easier to adjust your circuit to fit standard resistor values. • Variable Resistors: Also known as potentiometers or rheostats, variable resistors allow you to adjust their resistance manually. • Resistor Networks: In many applications, such as data bus pull-ups, multiple resistors of the same value are often needed. In these situations, you can purchase resistor packs in single inline or dual inline packages. These packs may contain multiple non-connected resistors or have one pin of each resistor connected to a common contact. While they might be pricier per resistor, they reduce mounting costs since only one insertion is needed, making them cost-effective overall. This convenience has also led to the availability of dual resistors in a single pack for potential divider applications.
